And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.<br \/>\n[<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>40<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">] And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?<br \/>\n[<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>41<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">] And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Here we begin at our lord&#8217;s long day of preaching.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The crowd was so great he had to teach from a boat<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Topics were:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">the parable of the sower<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">the candle under a bushel<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">the coming harvest<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">the mustard seed<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He closes the day&#8217;s end with his disciples in an adventure they would never forget<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The promise at evening 35 \u2013 let us pass over to the other side<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">speaks of a journey with Jesus<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">speaks of his fellowship on the other side<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">speaks of safe passage from the journey<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Christian life is like this journey<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">we may be weary when he calls us<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">we decide to travel with him<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">he goes with us through the entire journey<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">we are not only helped through the storm but are unto heaven eternal<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Peril of the storm (v. 37) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">There arose a great storm of wind<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The waves were beating upon the ship<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Lessons we can learn from the disciples:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">they were obeying yet the storm came<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">they were traveling with Jesus, yet the storm came<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">they were in the center of his will, yet the storm came<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Storms come to us all!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The purpose of the storm (v. 38-41)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Jesus knew the storm would come<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He was equipped to send the storm away<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Rather than send it away he chose to go through the storm with his disciples<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The storm enabled them to measure their faith<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">They learned that Christ was with them in the storm<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">They learned that he is up to any occasion<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">There are different storms for different purposes<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Jonah\u2019s storm was to bring him back to the lord<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Paul\u2019s storm was to provide a witnessing opportunity<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">This storm was to build their faith<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #1f497d;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Don&#8217;t judge
