{"id":4879,"date":"2015-12-15T06:01:42","date_gmt":"2015-12-15T11:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heartofgraceministries.com\/blog\/?p=4879"},"modified":"2015-12-15T06:01:42","modified_gmt":"2015-12-15T11:01:42","slug":"learning-love-enemies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heartofgraceministries.com\/blog\/after-the-fact\/learning-love-enemies\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning To Love Our Enemies"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Verdana, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>Luke 6:27-36<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25174\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>27\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25175\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>28\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25176\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>29\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25177\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>30\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25178\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>31\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25179\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>32\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25180\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>33\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25181\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>34\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25182\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>35\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"en-KJV-25183\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>36\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span>Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.<\/p>\n<p>There are many things we can learn about here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If we do not love our enemy ultimately means we hate our enemy<\/li>\n<li>If we want to hurt those who hurt us it is from the fear of being hurt again<\/li>\n<li>If we want justice for those who used us then we are letting selfishness drive us<\/li>\n<li>If we will not give back when others will take then we care too much of what we have<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are also many things we need to do:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Show love when others would look to hate<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Exhibit benevolence and give when others would not<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Be the voice in a tough conversation<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Find the good in an adverse situation and do it<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Expect nothing in return even when you give it all<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So while this may sound crazy I am thankful for every storm, trial, confrontation, battle and enemy that has ever shown up in my life.
